Primark Exclusive: Holler and Glow Nail Polish: Review and Swatches

Wednesday, August 23, 2017

Hello everybody and welcome to a new blogpost. This is going to be a short post, but it's one I'm really excited about! I went to Ghent yesterday and went inside Primark. I was a long time since my last Primark visit do I was excited to look around and search some fun new stuff. I saw on Youtube that Primarks in England have a new brand called 'Holler and Glow', that has GREAT nail polishes and sheet masks. And guess what? They have it in Belgium too! Read along to see what I think about these polishes and what I think about them.
If you're a big fan of holographic make-up and nail polishes: I have amazing new for you because the Holler and Glow nail polishes are all holooooo-licious. Yes. You read it right. I don't own many holographic nail polishes. I got a blue one when I was 14 but it dried out and the brand didn't make it anymore. Sooooo... I got 4. But they are all so different.
  • Papped: White pearl with pink holographic shimmer
  • Can You Not: Light Kaki with light green holographic shimmer
  • Rogue Mermaid: Blue base with pink and orange holo shimmer
  • Self Made: Bronze with brozen shimmer
Swatches: Self Made, Papped, Can You Not, Rogue Mermaid

Above you can see swatches of the polishes catching the light. How beautiful are they? My favorite is Papped, I like that pink sheen. All these swatches are 3 layers, but 2 would also be okay. Except Self Made, which was perfect and opaque in 1 coat. 1 COAT. Simply amazing. I didn't do a base and top coat, because I wanted to see how the polishes worked on their own.

They dry very quick, it's kind of the same drying time as Essie polishes.

About an hour later, I noticed my nails looking kinda... weird. On all four painted nails, little tiny bubbles starting forming. I think their are tiny air bubbles. I want to note that I did not shake up the bottles before painting so I'm curious to see how this happened.
Unfortunately, I have to take the polish off again because I can't wear nail polish at work. I do want to do a pedicure with one of these, though! I wonder it a base and top coat will help.

These polishes are only €2,50 at Primark. They have cute colours and also a few holographic topcoats. They also sell a base coat, top coat and nail care products by Holler and Glow. I would recommend them, although I'm not quite sure where the tiny air bubbles come from. Keep it in mind when you want to buy them!

Tragus Piercing: Experience, Pain, Healing,...

Saturday, February 25, 2017

Hello, my lovely readers! I was searching for a topic on today's blogpost and suddenly, I realized... I haven't updated you about my piercing. I talked about it shortly on my life update and decided to fill you guys in. I did a complete post on my Forward helix at the end of 2015, talking about the experience, the pain, the healing proces,... So I decided to talk about my Tragus piercing as well.

The piercing shop
With my last piercing, I went to a place called 'Body Design' in Ghent. It is known as one of the better tattoo/piercing places and I was very happy about my last visit. So there was no doubt in my mind: I needed to go back. I did not get the same woman to place the piercing, but she was VERY good. When people talk about Body Design, you always hear her name in conversations. She's one of the best.

The piercing
I choose a Tragus piercing in my right ear (I have the forward helix in my left one). I wanted this one for months but my lazy ass never took the time to actually go to the shop and do it. She gave me a few options and explained the up- and downside of the piercing. For example, it's better to choose a ring than a stone when the piercing is placed, because it helps it heal better. I followed her advice and chose a half-open ring. I quite liked the look of it and it would be handy to take care of the piercing itself.

The placement + pain
The placing of the piercing, was a bit painful - I'm not gonna lie. But it was okay, it did not hurt that much as the forward helix in my opinion. It feels a bit like a bee sting in your ear but after the needle is out of your ear, the biggest pain is over. It did bleed quite a lot and kept bleeding for a few days during cleaning it.

The healing proces
Overall, the healing proces went really well. It kept hurting a bit for a few weeks, but it did not get infected at all. This is something I'm very happy about. Maybe the ring piercing helped with the healing proces, like the woman said. It's also a convenient place to clean. After a month or so, I did not experience any pain anymore. I did have a painful experience at the hair dressers when she forgot about it and accidentally hit me in the ear with her hair brush. So people, ALWAYS tell them that you have a healing piercing, haha.

I hope you guys liked this quick post about the piercing. If you have any questions, don't be afraid to ask!

xx,
Astrid

Colourpop 'Where The Light Is' Review and Swatches

Tuesday, January 3, 2017

Aaaah, it's the first post of 2017! Say what? Hello and welcome to the new year. I love uneven numbers so this year is going to be awesome. I feel it. 2016 was just... bleh. But this year... It'll be better, with more fun, more love and more BLOGGING! Let's put that last resolution in action and blog today! I've talked about Colourpop a bit before on this channel, in this post. But let's talk about the eyeshadows now. This brand and its eyeshadows were so hyped up last year and I couldn't resist to try some out.

I really love Kathleenlights on youtube and she brought out so many collabs with lots of make-up brands last year. I thought her collaboration with Colourpop was so gorgeous. The eyeshadows are really beautiful.
